Beth Israel Deaconess Physicians Organization / Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Selects Concordant to Build and Manage their Electronic Health Records Infrastructure for Independent Physicians

North Chelmsford, MA, January 14, 2008 - Concordant, Inc., a leading provider of healthcare IT services, announced today it has been chosen by Beth Israel Deaconess Physicians Organization (BIDPO) / Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) to help build and manage a secure, robust, cost effective Electronic Health Records (EHR) infrastructure for its independent physicians. Concordant is developing the scaleable IT infrastructure to securely connect this diverse healthcare community, starting with up to 300 BIDPO/BIDMC practices in 173 locations. BIDPO/BIDMC benefits from Concordant's rich expertise in IT design, implementation and management of EHR ambulatory environments.

According to Dr. John Halamka, CIO, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Chief Information Officer of Harvard Medical School, there are significant challenges in rolling out EHR applications, particularly when the affiliated clinicians are not located within the confines of the hospital. "We recognized that implementing and supporting these independent offices is not our forte, which is why we chose Concordant as part of our dream team for this project. They bring extraordinary experience and the talent to insure that this strategic project will be done on time and with the highest quality," said Dr. Halamka.

"Our extensive experience in EHR implementations in more than 1,500 ambulatory practices will deliver significant benefits to BIDPOs/BIDMCs patient care and physician productivity," said Michael Levinger, CEO, Concordant, Inc. "We bring an actionable methodology with comprehensive deliverables that can be scaled and customized to conform to BIDPOs specific needs and objectives."

"We have never before outsourced a project of this magnitude," added Dr. Halamka. "Concordant's track record with previous projects similar in nature, demonstrates their capability to take on this role with the competency and speed that we could not manage by ourselves."

The BIDPO EHR project is currently in the design and planning stage and is expected to begin the pilot phase beginning in the spring of 2008.
